Individual Therapy
Individual counseling offers a private and confidential space where you can explore your feelings, beliefs, and behaviors while working through challenging memories or important life events. Through this one-on-one support, you can identify areas of your life you’d like to change, gain a better understanding of yourself and others, and set personal goals toward desired change. Common areas of focus in individual therapy include managing life stress, anxiety, and depression, coping with grief, trauma, and chronic illness, addressing guilt and shame, navigating family dynamics and life transitions, and making important decisions about your goals, needs, relationships, and dreams.
Family Therapy
Family therapy involves two or more family members, whether from your nuclear, extended, or chosen family, working together in sessions to address various issues. Each session may include different members or the entire family, depending on the focus. Common areas of focus in family therapy include defining healthy boundaries, understanding family patterns and dynamics, improving communication, and developing problem-solving skills to reduce conflict. It also helps families navigate life transitions like divorce or remarriage, cope with anxiety or depression within the family, and support members dealing with chronic illness, such as a cancer diagnosis.

Sessions focus on understanding each other’s perspectives, improving communication, and resolving conflicts. Common areas of focus in couples therapy include navigating trust issues, enhancing intimacy, and managing recurring disagreements. Couples therapy also helps partners work through significant life transitions, such as parenting challenges or career changes, and offers support for dealing with struggles like anxiety or depression. Who I Work With:
I work with clients throughout their lifespan, from young teens to older adults. Much of my professional expertise focuses on life transition and the impact of change. Areas of focus include conflict resolution, anxiety and depression, relational issues, and the ability to develop life balance. Listed below is a description of who I work with and how you may best benefit from counseling.
Young Teens 13-15
Young teens and families are welcomed and supported in a friendly and safe environment. Counseling is tailored to the specific developmental needs and interests of your teenager which can include traditional talk therapy, journal writing, or through the use of art, bibliotherapy (therapeutic books), and music. Parents seek counseling for a variety of reasons from behavioral issues, to parental divorce and remarriage, to a teen who experienced loss and trauma. Parents are essential to the counseling process and may participate in some of the teen’s sessions.
Older Teens 16-19
Adolescence is not easy. The process of growing up is a complicated deal, for both teens and parents. Dealing with school, friends, sports, extracurricular activities, and for some, a part-time job can be overwhelming. Parents may reach out for counseling to help their teen address issues such as experiencing major family transitions through divorce, remarriage and blending families, to dealing with anxiety and depression, or the stress of social media and problems with self-esteem, to balancing academics with sports or other activities. There is hope and help to get your teen back on track.
Young Adults + College Students
Young adults and college students are stressing about more than just a job, classes, a summer internship, or launching a career. For many, it’s the first time your living on your own and making important life decisions. Life can quickly seem out of sorts as your juggling work, academics, finances, friendships, romantic relationships, and trying to remain cool and collected. Having the responsibility of figuring out how to develop life balance sounds nearly impossible. Well, the good news is, it’s not impossible! In fact, you have choices, a lot of great ones you can be empowered to make, along with a very bright future.
Adults + Young Professionals
Adulthood is very complex. There are so many unforeseen life stressors, circumstances, life transitions, and responsibilities, all of which affects mood and overall wellbeing. You can really begin to feel overwhelmed and mentally exhausted. Solutions to problems and concerns start to seem out of reach. The daily struggles of balancing work and life is a real challenge. Feeling the pressure to meet goals, deadlines, handle relationships, bosses, friends, and daily obligations is a lot to manage. Counseling is a place for you to gain insight, clarity, and devise a practical plan to move forward in life and get back to staying on track with your life purpose.
Parents + Families
Parenting is often described as being joyful, fulfilling, challenging, and at times extremely stressful. Parenting a child or children is not easy. Parents are responsible for a child’s daily needs, from developing their life skills and social skills to helping their child learn appropriate behavior. Counseling for families often consists of strengthening the parent-child attachment relationship, building confidence in parenting skills, and improving co-parenting relationships. I also believe in the need for parents to learn self-care and finding ways to de-stress and balance parenting with other areas of their life. Overall wellness is key.
