Our Process - Plan Purpose Counseling

How We Work

Our Process

For new and existing clients.  I have included guides to learn how to use the Simple Practice client portal.

Please review these easy to follow how-to guides to learn how to login and use the Simple Practice client portal.  The client portal allows you to schedule, change, and cancel appointments, create and receive secure messages, pay a bill, sign and download documents, and conduct teletherapy sessions.  It is an easy to use and convenient way to manage the administration associated with our sessions.  The platform is HIPPA compliant and secure to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of clients.  Please contact me with any questions or to clarify any information within the guides.

Information for New Clients.

Prior to the start of our first meeting you will need to complete the appropriate “New Client Paperwork” that will be sent to you through the client portal to fill out and sign.  If you wish you may download the new client paperwork to fill out at home and bring with you to the initial session. You may also opt to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to the start of your first appointment, and the forms will be made available for you in the waiting room. If you do arrive early to complete the paperwork a clipboard with the forms will be left for you in the waiting room; if more than one clipboard is out there please look for the one with a note on the front with the name “Plan Purpose Counseling” on it.

Please note that if therapeutic services are for a minor (0-17yrs), then the first appointment is for Parents OnlyThis invaluable time will give us an opportunity to discuss goals, concerns, and other important developmental information.

What to expect on your first visit.

  • Complete paperwork and discuss the Informed Consent (what to expect from the therapeutic process), Practice Policies, and the Notice of Privacy Practices forms.

  • Discuss therapeutic goals and areas of concern.

  • Identify strengths.

  • Discuss pertinent relationships, mental health, and physical health history.

  • Answer any questions regarding therapy and/or the therapeutic process.

  • Get to know each other a bit, the client-therapist relationship is important to develop and maintain throughout the course of therapy.

  • Discuss the Release of Information form and if there is anyone with whom it would be helpful for me to speak with (e.g psychiatrist, psychologist, clergy members, teachers, family members, CPS caseworkers, etc).

  • If you are interested in teletherapy services we will discuss the appropriateness of such services in relation to your goals. If deemed appropriate you will receive a brief training on how to use the platform and best practices for teletherapy.
